AUDIO STUDIO FOR THE READING IMPAIRED, INC.
A unique resource for custom narrated audio recordings. If you have a family member or friend who is unable to read due to a visual impairment, a reading disorder or a physical disability, the Audio Studio for the Reading Impaired (ASRI) may be the answer. For over 25 years, volunteer narrator teams at ASRI have provided audio tapes and CDs of all types of printed materials to meet individual requests. Every textbook or law book, every work of fiction or trade periodical, every instructional manual or current events magazine we narrate and record, we do for the one individual who requested it. That's one thing that sets ASRI apart from so many reading services. The over-riding requirement, however, is that the materials we produce may not be available in recorded form from some other source.

RED BOOK (From the Social Security Administration)
One of the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) highest priorities is to support the efforts of disabled beneficiaries who want to work by developing policies and services to help them reach their employment goal. The Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs include a number of employment support provisions commonly referred to as work incentives. The Red Book is a general reference tool designed to provide a working knowledge of these provisions. The Red Book is written primarily for educators, advocates, rehabilitation professionals, and counselors who serve persons with disabilities. We also expect that applicants and beneficiaries will use it as a self-help guide. The Red Book contains a general description of our disability-related policies. For information specific to your situation regarding eligibility or benefits, you may need to contact us.

SPECIAL NEEDS ADOPTION PROGRAM
SNAP is the Special Needs Adoption Program within the Department for Community Based Services that operates statewide to recruit families to adopt and/or foster Kentucky's waiting children. Since its inception, SNAP has been involved in the adoptive placement of more than 2,500 special needs children. Working together with the Recruitment and Certification teams (R and C workers) in Kentucky's nine DCBS service regions, interested families are recruited and helped to prepare to adopt and/or foster children with no permanent home. The R and C teams in every county include a social worker who helps approve and prepare families for fostering and adopting. R and C workers are trained to work in partnership with families and waiting children to make sure everyone involved understands their rights, obligations, responsibilities and the resources and assistance available to them.

UNIQUELY GIFTED
Resources for Gifted Children with Special Needs (ADD/ADHD, Learning Disabilities (LD), Asperger Syndrome, etc.) Twice-exceptional children (that is, intellectually gifted children with special needs such as AD/HD, learning disabilities, Asperger Syndrome, etc.) have a hard time of it in our education system because many people don't even realize that a child can be both gifted and learning disabled. Their giftedness can mask their special needs and their special needs hide their giftedness, they are often labeled as "lazy", "unmotivated", "not trying".
